Geelong Scale Aerotow 2009
Written by Steve Lunney

GMAA club Shepherds Road Mannerim, 20th-21st June 2009

Saturday morning Henryk, Neil and myself rolled up around 9am and met Phil Pope and the other members from GMAA, we setup flight operations and got out some models.

There was a strong northerly wind but Neil and Henryk decided to give it a go, towing up Neils ash-26. Well it was a very bumpy tow due to the rotors coming off the trees, Henryk got the tug down and switched off as there was no more customers. Neil in the meantime was struggling not to go too far backwards, at one point the model was creating that beautiful sound that moldies make, but watching the model, it was not going forward!!. Once close to the ground the wind was not as strong so you could make forward progress but then had to fight the rotors.

Jerilderie Scale Aerotow 2009
Written by Henryk Kobylanski

As the weekend promised, there was all sorts of weather over the Easter weekend at Jerilderie.

This year saw an impressive turnout with more large scale sailplanes than previous years. With some nice displays by mother nature over the weekend, the event was full of different flying conditions, but I am sure the locals were happy that we brought the rain!

With plenty of tugs and huge sky, I am sure no one went home not satisfied with the amount of flying they got in.

Thanks to Rod Watkins for organising this year's event and Dave Tamlin and the local Council for their great support of soaring in Jerilderie.

Bendigo Scale Aerotow 2008
Written by Steve Lunney & Henryk Kobylanski

The tradition of Bendigo continues, this year with a great turnout of models

With many of us arriving late Saturday morning, the guys from the Bendigo RCAC had the field all ready and in immaculate condition. It was great to see more grass on the strips than in previous years - there has obviously been slightly more rain!

Well it was off to the State Field for our scale day there and it is a fair way out of Melbourne to get to it ,though with the countryside is nice and green it was a pleasant drive getting there.
