Guess who has a great aero-tow fast approaching?

Yep you guessed right. It's the Sunraysia Model Aircraft club.

It's all happenning on the weekend of the 24th and 25th of March 2012. Darrel Blow is the organiser of this fine event and I can vouch for the flying site, it's a top spot with all the facilities and I am sure a few of us are hanging out for a great preflight check out of all our tugs and sailplanes before Jerilderie 2012.

Darrell and Garry Whitfield will look after anyone that comes up for the weekend. All are welcome, bring your sailplane or tug or both. Size in this case is not important,,whether it is a big one or a small one Darrell says he will tug anything and get it up!

So If you would like to be a part of the Mildura aero-tow, give Darrel Blow a call on 03 50230906 or Garry Whitfield on 0429 195 330. It will be a hoot and so I hope to see you all there and maybe write the odd article or two as well.

The Sunraysia Model Aircraft Club Aero-tow many thanks to the Mildura Club and all the team for there efforts.

You either love them or hate them, but you have to agree that the Wilga's and Cmelack's do a fine job of towing sailplanes into the wild blue yonder!

Wayne Jones is almost there and has sent in the floowing article. Many thanks Wayne, we all love to read about projects like this and a scratch build no less.

So without further adieu here is Wayne's Story so far:

Building a Cmelak on a shoestring.I started having strange thoughts about a year ago “ maybe I should build a tow plane”; but what to build? I needed something a bit different and had to tow well, preferably with a low wing, and then I saw it on the Airworld web site. pic_2_tail1.jpgA Cmelak ! The Zlin Z-37A. So ugly it looks beautiful ( well I think so).

The tug plane I have selected to build is a Multiplex Big Lift - A R F. It has a 2.4 metre wingspan and will have a MVVS 35cc 2 stroke petrol engine with electronic ignition and a tuned pipe 660mm long.
