| Welcome to Scale Soaring Australia |
| Scale Soaring Australia (SSA) was developed to foster, support and promote the building and flying of radio controlled scale model sailplanes within Australia.

| Martin Simons presents a new book from Vincenzo Pedrielli - disegni di Francesco Camastra |
Italian Vintage Sailplanes.
Vincenzo Pedrielli's long expected new book about Italian Vintage Sailplanes is now published. Below is and extract from what I wrote for his preface. The book is even more attractive than I said.
The book can be ordered on line from the publisher, eqip@eqip.de EU45.00.This beautiful book is an important contribution to the history of soaring in Italy. It fills a gap in the literature of the subject, drawing favourable attention to the work of Italian sailplane designers, constructors and pilots. In the English speaking world little has been known of them hitherto. Here is the climax of years of careful study and research by Vincenzo Pedrielli, the author. It will become recognised as essential for anyone who is fascinated by the story of the Italian Gliding movement as it paralleled the extraordinary worldwide growth of the sport.(The illustrator) Francesco's accurate drawings and the photographs included will be an invaluable source for model makers who until now have had very little access to detailed information of this kind.
For your Scale Soaring event or story to be published on the website please email to Chris Carpenter at Crash55@internode.on.net.
Cheers
Crash Carpenter

You either love them or hate them, but you have to agree that the Wilga's and Cmelack's do a fine job of towing sailplanes into the wild blue yonder!
Wayne Jones is almost there and has sent in the floowing article. Many thanks Wayne, we all love to read about projects like this and a scratch build no less.
So without further adieu here is Wayne's Story so far:
Building a Cmelak on a shoestring.I started having strange thoughts about a year ago “ maybe I should build a tow plane”; but what to build? I needed something a bit different and had to tow well, preferably with a low wing, and then I saw it on the Airworld web site. A Cmelak ! The Zlin Z-37A. So ugly it looks beautiful ( well I think so).

The tug plane I have selected to build is a Multiplex Big Lift - A R F. It has a 2.4 metre wingspan and will have a MVVS 35cc 2 stroke petrol engine with electronic ignition and a tuned pipe 660mm long.
